The Soul Jazz Coalition is a group of musicians with a penchant for balancing the modern styles of today with America's uniquely original art form, jazz. The result is an interesting melee of real jazz with soulful contemporary twists.

The Soul Jazz Coalition loves to swing. But they love to get funky, too. If you catch the Soul Jazz Coalition you'll probably hear them swinging through a Horace Silver arrangement with contemporary funk interludes in it - or playing John Coltrane's music side by side with Jimi Hendrix - or contrasting Freddie Hubbard's music with War in a most unlikely manner. They've got the juxtaposition working. Their original compositions feature the same kind of genre-blending, and the band's enthusiastic group of followers seems to thrive on the diversity of the music.
